Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid period, managing just one match at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - led to him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's first trophy since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court since March of the previous year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.

His retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on court had prompted observers to wonder if his skill to compete at the elite level was finished.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden professional championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 early opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian broke to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner earned victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
